About Activities

With all the hard work of university – the classes, the assignments, and the final exams- WLUSU believes that students should have a good time. That’s were the Department of Student Activities comes in.

From the moment First Year Students set foot on campus, they learn about university life during Orientation Week. With hundreds of volunteers working behind the scenes, the Orientation Week Committee organizes a balanced week of fun, safe, and informative activities to welcome First Year Students to Laurier.

During Orientation Week, students participate in Shinerama, a nation wide student fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis. Laurier has the proud tradition of being the school that has raised the most money for the past 5 years. Laurier's Shinerama campaign is nationally recognized, and takes place all summer long with popular events like Nickel Mile and the WLUSU Golf Classic.

PIT KRUE is the newest Student Activities committee and is proud to provide programming just for First Year Students all year long! From the popular O-Week Reunion, "Return to O" in the Fall, to the KRUE Cup in the Winter, and with many Coffee Houses in between, PIT KRUE is extremely busy in making sure that everyone has a memorable first year at Laurier!

During the holiday season, the Medieval Boar’s Head Dinner helps put everyone in the festive spirit. A legendary medieval feast that started at Oxford University over 600 years ago, the WLU version features exciting entertainment and a delicious feast.

Winter Carnival offers students a week of spirited activities that celebrate winter. Winter Carnival includs a cheer-off, show sculpture contest, lip sync, scavenger hunt and many other fun and exciting games and contests on and off campus.

In March, Charity Ball is a fun way for friends from all years to gather today to celebrate the end of the school year. This formal event takes place off-campus and is a classy evening not to be missed!

Soon after Charity Ball, Fashion N' Motion arrives!! FnM is a high-energy dance and fashion production that is always a sell-out with Laurier students! Over 100 volunteers work all year long to put this professional and impressive show together.

The Laurier University Charity Kouncil (aka L.U.C.K.) is active during the school months as volunteers raise money for various charities through events and campaigns. L.U.C.K.'s two largest events are the Charity Auction in November and Murder Mystery in January.

Finally, the Activities Team (aka the A-Team) is an energetic group that organizes entertainment for students all year long. A-Team's events are very diverse and favourites include Mission Impossible, Last Band Standing, Tony Lee, Comedy Nights, and the Flag Football Tournament. Also, watch for some exciting concerts throughout the year!!

Although university life can be tough, the many social events and charity functions planned by the Students Activities Department make it easier for students to enjoy their time here at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Don’t miss out, because the SA Department can provide you with a much-needed fun-injection to cure your workload blues!

Passion, Perspective, Family, Fun, Respect.
