What can I expect from Orientation Week?

Orientation Week will set the tone for your time here at Laurier.  The week is filled with activities, events and sessions that will introduce you to new friends, help you feel comfortable finding your way around campus, and show you what Laurier is all about.  Academic information sessions will help prepare you for your classes, and hundreds of trained student Volunteers will be there to answer any questions you may have.  Above all else, the week is designed to help you feel safe and comfortable in your new surroundings, all while having fun and preparing you for your time at Laurier.

Why should I participate in Orientation Week?

By participating in the week, you will have the opportunity to meet amazing people, with whom you will have a lot of fun at a variety of activities and events.  You will also get a head start on your university career, becoming more familiar with campus, classes, and all that Laurier has to offer. We, the Laurier community, want you to take pride in your decision to come to Laurier and take this opportunity to find your place on campus!  If you want to make the most out of your Laurier experience, start by taking part in Orientation Week!

How Do I Add/Drop a Class?

Making changes in your schedule is very easy and accessible during Orientation Week. However, whenever you are making a schedule change, you should always check your academic calendar to ensure your decision fits your program guidelines and meets add/drop deadlines. There are several deadlines over the summer and into the semester that will activate penalties on academic records or failure to reimburse tuition. These dates, as well as the ability too add/drop can be found on the Laurier website at www.wlu.ca.

When Do I Get My One Card?

The One-Card office is open Monday-Friday during Orientation Week from 9:00am – 9:00pm. The process involves simply going to the office with your pink registration form and one other piece of ID. They will then take your picture and the card will be created. The first card is free but should you need a replacement there is a $20 charge. For those First Year Students who are in Waterloo College Hall or King Street Residence your One-Card is also used to enter your building and therefore you should attempt to get your card early in the week.
