What Do I Get Out of Orientation Week?

DAYTIME ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

Academic Sessions: Each student will attend academic information sessions, specific to their program. Here you will meet some of your professors and get an idea of what it takes to ensure academic success.

“Get Involved Fair”: An opportunity to meet representatives from the clubs, groups and teams Laurier has to offer.  No fair would be complete without a variety of games, dunk tank and barbeque.

Bingeman’s Sports and Water Park:  On this day Bingeman’s is closed to the public, while every Laurier first year has unlimited access to all of Bingeman’s activities, which include; mini-golf, go-karts, wave pool, water slides, bumper boats and beach volleyball.

Regatta Games: An afternoon of games you’ve likely never heard of. You’ll compete with your floor-mates against a floor from a different colour to earn points for your team.

Cheer off: The four colour teams perform a rehearsed cheer for the other teams and all of Laurier’s volunteers, while earning points for their colour team.

Bling Bling: Another colour competition, where each team displays the money they’ve raised for Shinerama throughout the week. Do you know what $10,000 worth of nickels looks like?

NIGHT EVENTS

Price is Right: A few lucky first year students will ‘come on down’ and try to win prizes donated by the Laurier Bookstore.

Talent Show: Each colour team presents their most talented individuals in a 15 minute whirlwind of entertainment.

Movie Night: Laurier transforms Alumni Field into a Drive-In movie theater, and presents two movies that will not disappoint.

On Campus Party: Laurier opens its doors and thousands of students party in either of two of Laurier’s campus bars, or outdoors in the FNCC Quad.

MEALS & SNACKS

As a participant in Orientation Week, you will be provided with six meals throughout the week. Whenever a meal is not provided, a break in the events is scheduled to allow you time to eat on their own. Shinerama Volunteers will often be barbequing, and Laurier’s two food courts will be open throughout the week.

WHAT ELSE DO I GET?

After you register on Move-In Day, you will be given a laundry bag. This bag is filled with information, products and coupons that will help you get through your first year at Laurier.
