HMS
Laurier’s Historical Movie Society exists to educate and entertain. We are a student-organized club for those who share the passion for historical films. We are here to have fun with our fellow students and support a local charity while we’re at it. We meet every other week at the Downtown Java (88 Colborne Street), and each week one student or professor presents a film of their choice, and the group discusses the historical accuracies and anything else that is interesting about the film and time period. We have a fundraiser once a year as a thank you for all students as well as the Downtown Java for letting us use their facilities. All of the proceeds go to Why Not City Missions at the Downtown Java. It has been a great event for three years so far and attracts many students and faculty. As Laurier’s oldest campus club, we have a proud heritage at Laurier Brantford. We see a bright future for HMS Laurier.
