Hi, just wondering read above information as of February 15th and stated that they are not wanting to have a strike in sake of the students, however it would be nice to because I have been doing all of this work, working my butt off and trying my best to succeed and do the best I can do but if however there will be a strike all of my hard work will be gone. I t would just be nice to know what is going to happen since I have papers and midterms week of march 1st and the week after march 15th week and on, and if it does happen there is not even a month of classes left and all of a sudden we are just hearing about these issues know when they were obviously happening when the school year started in September and it took this long for them to finally inform the students and may or may not get our hopes up. Because I have three papers all due on march 15th and if I start during reading week which I was planning on doing and if then a strike does occur then all of my hard work and dedication to these courses would have been for nothing!!!! And I know you will keep updating us as soon as you hear something but I just thing if this strike is going to happen I t mine as well happen NOW or NOT happen at all!! If strike does happen and I just go on with doing work I will NOT be a HAPPY camper if all of my work gets put on hold and or does NOT even matter at all!! Just thought I would give you my opinion and what I have heard and hopefully you will Beale to answer my questions because if I do not have to write my papers then I am not going to start them, because like I said I will be sooooo upset if the strike does happen and everything that I have done form this point and on was just a waste of my time and as well my money, we pay soooo much in tuition and then we get the burden of having to deal with these issues and keep wondering if there's or is not going to be a strike and for how long and even if w e are going to get the full credit, it is at least past the half way point of this term and it just seems that it will be a waste if this does happen because we have done so much work thus far and there may or may not be a strike starting in march which means there is not even a month left of classes, we would be soooo close to the finish line like 3/4 the way through and then we have everything that we worked soooo hard for will be worth nothing, it. I ll be pointless. I thought the university is trying to make this easier so the students but in the long run it is only going to hurt us and stress out even more as it is with school work our own Lu ves and on top having to deal if we are going to finish the semester and write the final exams or NOT!!!

Don't really worry about it though, all you need is a 60% and then you have as much chance as anyone. You don't even have to worry about an interview!

If the aim of the council is to unite the two universities, I think there should be a way for the students to travel back and forth between the two universities. That way, instead of creating one council, we can have two, both catering to the specific needs of each campus, while still uniting the students together at events.

Hello,
Coming into university I was not an outgoing or confident person. Being a part of numerous students union groups in Brantford through my 3 years has opened my eyes to amazing people and all that I can accomplish personally. I finally decided I would continue to help our campus grow by applying for an AVP position next year and now they don't exist. I feel this is VERY detrimental to our campus. Not only because I wanted the job, but because the Brantford WLUSU is close like a family and the new structure seems to be incredibly impersonal. From what I've been reading, the voice of Brantford students (or students at all) was not taken into consideration while making these decision and for all the incoming students who want to come to Brantford for an open, welcoming experience and to grow personally, I think you are taking away the opportunity completely. I also think that if you were a student at the Brantford campus you would never have made these changes in the first place. You don't need to fix what's not broken. Thanks for your time.

As a fifth year, graduating Laurier Brantford student, I oppose this new restructuring. While "better value" may be needed in the executive team structure, removing Brantford's autonomy is not the way to do this. Laurier Brantford is its own campus with its own concerns that are not reflected on the main campus. If decision making rests with Waterloo, our voices will not be heard due to volume. I remember when our WLUSU team had to make decisions through Waterloo, and it was frustrating both for them and for us as students. A great deal of work has gone into gaining more independence for WLUSU in Brantford, and I am proud of the changes that have been made. This restructuring is a step back and a stripping of Brantford students' voices.
I cannot speak to all areas of the restructuring, but in my experience calling between campuses, Waterloo deals with a very different set of needs, even with something as simple as knowing what building we might need the Special Constables dispatched to, or helping campus clubs. If the coordinator for campus clubs is not at our campus, they will not be able to make decisions that are appropriate for our small campus. As our campus grows and changes, regulations and requirements change often with regards to room use, who must be contacted for different WLU logistics, and booking procedures. Without experience attending our campus, the VP will not be in a good position to deal with new situations. These happen frequently - for example when a club or group wants to do something no one at this campus has done before, and new decisions need to be made.
I am also concerned that this change has not been made in consultation with students, but is presented as a done deal. Why is this not a part of the election referendums we have seen in the past? By pushing the changes through, those in opposition now must fight it with an unfair disadvantage - they are not opposing a proposition but something that was approved before they ever had a chance.
The One Voice vision will not appropriately serve the needs of Brantford students, because our needs, desires and experiences do not match those of the larger Waterloo campus. Unity of vision can and must be balanced with giving each campus a voice that will be heard. Self governance is needed to allow us a proper say in our own unique university student experience. We are not Laurier Waterloo students who lost their way and ended up in a different city, we are a campus and a community unto ourselves.
