Student Life Levy
Applicable to Waterloo and Brantford Students
$39.64 for 2.0 credits or more per semester for full-time students
$9.91 per 0.5 credits per semester for part-time students
This fee represents a contribution from the undergraduate student body to the University’s capital campaign. The total contribution to the university is in excess of $3 million and students are the largest single contributors to the campaign. In 1993, a referendum was passed by the students of WLU to approve this fee. Our contributions are designated in three specific areas: a) Funding the 1995 expansion of the Fred Nichols Campus Centre b) Scholarship and Bursary funds – The most significant portion of this is in the Jim Wilgar bursary fund that has been endowed so the money will always be available. A scholarship in the name of Dr. Lorna Marsden, a former president of the University, was also provided for by the WLUSU donation. c) Increased computer and library acquisitions – thus far WLUSU has contributed to the creation and upkeep of numerous computer labs on campus. We have also provided funds each year for an on-line journal research package and a CD-ROM journal research printer. As well WLUSU has made a major contribution to the Trellis (tri-university library search engine), and to the replacement of the University’s computer backbone. More recently, money has been committed to improve the 3rd Floor of the Students’s Union. Services and programs offered by WLUSU are now more accessible to students, and small study rooms for groups to meet and study have been created.
