Student Marketplace a Success!

Waterloo, ON, November 29, 2008 – The Public Relations Committee of the Wilfrid Laurier Students’ Union held their bi-annual Student Marketplace event on November 26th and 27th . The Student Marketplace caters to current Laurier students who are young entrepreneurs and want to expose what their products or services to the Laurier community. The event was held in the concourse between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. It brought out many vendors with a variety of different products, including jewellery and gifts made by a women’s co-op in the Dominican Republic, ticket sales for the Global Conference, NationWares and jewellery and scarves sold by Peace for All International.

Student Marketplace is an event that has been going on for 5 years and has generated a great deal of excitement for Laurier students.  It is a perfect opportunity for students to showcase and expose their creations for free to the Laurier community.  Some vendors promote a message, for example John Darlymple brought out custom Barack Obama t-shirts that were quite popular this year.

An executive member of the Public Relations Committee, Jenn Dillon, comments on the success of the event: “The event this year brought out many new vendors with great ideas to promote and items to sell!”
