These Books were made from Walking!
Waterloo, ON, November 23rd, 2008 – Laurier Students for Learning (LSFL) of Wilfrid Laurier University invite all Laurier students to attend the annual Walk for Literacy, which raises funds for a local non profit organization. On Saturday, November 29th from 10:30am until 2pm, registration for the walk, a kids’ carnival, and the walk itself will take place in the concourse.
This year, the committee will be raising funds for the Books for Kids book drive hosted by the Waterloo Region Record. All funds raised will go towards purchasing books to be used in Christmas Hampers prepared by the Salvation Army and then distributed to the KW community. Registration for the event will begin at noon, and the walk will be from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, with awards following. The kids’ carnival will be from 10:30am until noon and is completely free of charge.
“LSFL provides free learning services for the children of the KW community. It is a volunteer run organization and our volunteers come from all over the WLU campus. This is LSFL’s 15th year of service. Help make a child smile this holiday!” encourages LSFL Coordinator Kay-Sea Taylor.
