"We are the face of AIDS" – BACCHUS to host

AIDS Awareness Week at Laurier

WATERLOO – On Tuesday November 27th Laurier’s Boosting Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students, otherwise known as BACCHUS, will be commemorating World AIDS Day as well as hosting AIDS Awareness week in the concourse from November 27th to the 30th. BACCHUS will be increasing awareness on the topic of AIDS in the Laurier community, as well as AIDS across the globe.

BACCHUS works to ensure the health and safety of Laurier students as well as bring attention and awareness to specific topics year-round. This years AIDS Awareness Week campaign showcases the slogan "We are the face of AIDS" - explaining that the actual face of AIDS is undefined and affects us all whether as students or as human beings. By promoting AIDS Awareness week in the concourse BACCHUS interacts with students on campus and shines a light on an issue that many students may not know much about. BACCHUS at Laurier has been working hard to organize their AIDS Awareness campaign and hopes that the Laurier community will gain a better understanding of the fact that AIDS affects us all.

"I think that listening to this guest speaker is so important because it puts a face to the issue of HIV/AIDS," says BACCHUS Marketing Executive Krista Boniface. "Sometimes we forget that these issues do really exist and I think that listening to someone who has been impacted by HIV/AIDS serves to remind us that it is real and we have the power to fight it. I encourage everyone to come to this event, support this amazing cause and listen to this inspirational story."
