Laurier’s ERT works towards a healthy heart!

WATERLOO – On Wednesday February 6^th, 2008, Laurier’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) is hosting a CPR-a-thon in the Concourse from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.  ERT members will be performing CPR procedures, as well as collecting pledges for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.   

ERT is a certified team of volunteers who help support Laurier students with effective first aid care.  They are committed to running various events which help educate the Laurier community through Standard First Aid Courses and Recertification’s.  The CPR-a-thon will also include a bake sale, raffles, activities, and special guests to help raise funds for the selected charity.  The Heart and Stroke Foundation works actively toward funding research to help eliminate the risk of heart disease and stroke. 

“The [foundation] is a great cause because of the increased obesity rates in children,” says ERT Promotions Executive Steph Ferguson.  “It is really important to ERT to raise awareness for this cause [and] give back to the community.”
