Proving Recycling is No Challenge in Residence
[
By inviting the students to participate in the challenge, the EcoHawks Committee is hoping to promote recycling awareness to first year students. This is the third year the committee has organized the challenge because it is a creative method of introducing the issue of recycling on campus that works to integrate the environmentally healthy habit into the daily routine of students. Prizes to be won include a free rock climbing experience for the entire floor at the university’s Athletic Complex, a free party room and pool table experience at Dooley’s pool hall, donated by Dooley’s, and lastly, a ceramic pottery and painting experience at Luci’s Mudhouse, sponsored by Luci’s Mudhouse. All participants will be rewarded for their competitive recycling efforts with a coupon for one free hour of pool at Dooley's pool hall.
An executive member of the EcoHawks committee, Sophia Thai, mentions the committee’s intentions for hosting the challenge, “I really hope first year students learn about the importance of recycling because I truly believe that if we all work together and do our small part to take care of the earth, we can maintain what we have today for future generations.”
